Becoming a Professional Gambler

It's not easy becoming a professional gambler.

It takes discipline. It takes money. It takes sacrifice.

Many people have tried becoming professional gamblers, and few have made it.

Why?

Some of the common pitfalls:

1) Lack of discipline.
2) Lack of bankroll.

Discipline comes in many forms, especially if you are planning on living in Las Vegas. Can you avoid the seedier side of Las Vegas? Can you maintain your focus so that you make the right decisions? Can you maintain and stick to a proper budget?

Bankroll is just as important as discipline. In order to become a successful gambler, you need to have a proper bankroll. The successful professional gamblers are not the ones who bet a big pile of money on their favorite team. No, the professional gambler is the one who will spread out 20 bets over 20 different games. They are not betting their favorites - instead, they are betting on any game in which they feel that they have an edge. That is the difference between a professional gambler and somebody who will blow their bankroll.

So, you have discipline, you have desire and you have the bankroll. What's next?

Practice.

In order to become a professional gambler, you need to practice, practice and practice some more.

You need to have the rules of whatever game you are planning on playing down cold.

Once you know the rules, you need to practice, either "live" or online. Start small and increase the size of your bets as you become more comfortable.

The life of a professional gambler is a tough grind. Can you handle the ups and downs? Could you wake up after taking a big loss and get right back to work? Could you wake up after winning a bunch of money and act as if nothing had happened?
